New England Garden Wedding

With spring in bloom, I’m loving garden weddings, especially this romantic New England wedding from Katie Slater. The groom’s family estate on the water makes for a beautiful scene for this classic and chic fete.

While planning for our big day, the absolute most important thing to me was that our wedding was “uniquely ours”, and I wanted our guests to walk away saying that’s how I envisioned their wedding to be and it was very much like Dean & Rachel. We both are very close to our families and the emphasis of the wedding was on our families, where we grew up, and spent many of our time as a couple.

The whole church ceremony was so memorable for me because it was the whole reason we were having such a celebration that day. The ceremony & church was so beautiful and it was a small intimate church so I felt that everyone there was so close and part of the ceremony. My two favorite memories, was my father escorting me down the aisle and of course my husband walking me out. The picture of him looking at me as we exited the church to me says it all.

Our reception took place at my husbands parents home on a beautiful lake where he lived for over 20 years and we spent many of summers enjoying the lake and property. I wanted a soft romantic garden feel, and so I worked hard planning every detail from the distressed white chairs, blue-grey linen runners on the farm tables and garden centerpieces stuffed with beautiful roses.

There were so many favorite parts to my day, its hard to choose only a few. One of my favorite parts was getting ready. It was so wonderful to be surrounded by my closest friends and family, and spend those moments with my mother and father. The look on their faces, as I look back in picture is so priceless because they look so proud and happy for this day as though they had been waiting for it for a long time.
