If you are into that eclectic vintage vibe, you are going to obsess over this barn wedding from Jenny Smith & Co. I really love the traditions they incorporated to honor their heritage, like the Lithuania sashes they walked under for their entrance.
Everything just kind of feel together, we didn’t really have a color scheme in mind. We wanted something soft and simple and to let the beauty of our venue speak for itself. Steve and I fell in love with the location the moment we stepped foot on the grounds. It felt as if we were home, in our own backyards and the nicest woman on the planet, the owner, wanted to make a wedding for us. It was pure magic, I couldn’t have dreamt of a better day.
The best part of the day was seeing Steve’s big, goofy smile at the end of the aisle as I approached. We had decided to wait to see each other and I’m so glad for that. The anticipation was intense, but once I saw his face, and his eyes welling up with tears, I knew I had made the best decision of my life!
We incorporated Lithuania traditions by drinking Krupnikas which is a traditional liquor and entered the barn under Lithuania sashes. The inspiration for our wedding really came from the venue itself. Graf Barn naturally creates this rustic, shabby chic, vibe that you can get lost in.
The most important thing while planning was for us to enjoy every minute and not forget what really was important to us. Things can get so crazy and stressful but at the end of day you have to remember what you’re doing, you are preparing to marry your soulmate, pledging your life to one another in front of everyone in your lives that matter. It’s the most incredible joy and you must remember that when things start to feel overwhelming.

I’ve fallen for this summery session from Esther Louise Photography. This couple are Florida natives and wanted the fun and sunny state to be reflected in their engagement session. It doesn’t get more Florida than an orange grove, and it makes the perfect backdrop. Paired with a golden sunset, it is one gorgeous shoot!
I have fallen head over heels for today’s winter wedding captured by JoPhoto. The whole look is an understated elegance and romance, but with a modern vibe. I love the cute gold triangle place card holders. Such an easy and great looking DIY idea for those with woodworking skills.
Ultimately we wanted our wedding to be a God honoring celebration of our covenant in marriage. That being said, we wanted our wedding have a romantic, elegant, fun and welcoming vibe. We chose neutrals as our color scheme and I have no regrets. I loved the soft look of the bridesmaids dresses and it allowed for lots of wiggle room for decor. It was important to us to be married in a church and Graystone Presbyterian was the perfect option. It is beautiful, the staff is very welcoming, and they allowed our friend Joel Baker to be our officiant. In May 2014 we were both in the wedding of our friends Laura and Russell McBride at The Standard. We loved the layout, the industrial feel, and the location. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful indoor venue.
What wasn’t my favorite part of the day? Everything was sentimental, fun, sweet, and filled with so much joy! Spending the morning with my main girls, getting ready, drinking mimosas, listening to my jams, and taking photos was a whirlwind and then getting to see my man for the first time made me cry like a baby. I think I have to choose the ceremony as my favorite part of our wedding day. Standing in front of our family and friends and listening to what our God has done for us, what he is doing, and the good work he will continue in us was the sweetest moment of the day. I was and am still overwhelmed at His overwhelming grace. Making a covenant with David in front of God, our family and friends was no light thing and I won’t forget that moment.
It was really important to us that we used our time well (which didn’t always happen by the way). This was an area that was difficult since it was stressful a lot of the time, but thanks to a lot of support from family and friends, we made it through.
I had a lot of help from my very talented friends. My mom made the cheers sign on top of the bar and a family friend helped us cut out the bottom of wine bottles so we were able to put candles in them and decorate the shelves behind the bar. My friend Kate is an AMAZING graphic designer and she made every sign in our entire reception! My MOH Lindsey and Kate also made the backdrop for the dessert bar which was one of my favorite spots! Kate’s dad made the cardholders for the seats on the bridal table. Lindsey made the set up for the seating chart, shutters with name tags attached. This was set up in the bar area so people could find their seats during cocktail hour. My mom made the backdrop for our photobooth and let me tell you that was no small feat. These people worked incredibly hard on every detail of my wedding and I can’t thank them enough for the care and time they put into it.
My second favorite moment of the night was our first dance. Walking into a room filled with all of our favorite people and dancing for the first time with my husband was a dream. Of course the rest of the night was spent talking to all the incredible people in our lives, dancing with our friends, and soaking it all in. Every moment was and still is sweet and made us aware of God’s goodness to us.
