Warm up this week with this boho vibe beach wedding captured by Saltwater Studios. I absolutely love the bride’s look (the gold embroidery on that gown is stunning!) And I love her choice of a simple lavender and wheat bouquet with the fabric wrapping.
Our beautiful Cape May beach wedding was filled with so much love Sept. 12. We were married on the beach where my mom’s ashes are and it could not have been a more perfect, special day.
My color palette was inspired by Van Gogh’s Sunflowers- which I gave to each of my bridesmaids to help them find their own dress in hues of sea foam/aqua. The second color was gold- which I found sparkly, reasonably priced shoes for them in. For my bachelorette party we went to a friend’s art studio. and each painted our own “Sunflowers” canvas. I wanted them to feel beautiful and comfortable in their dress, which is why I had them find their own. Women’s bodies are all so different- and I didn’t want to dictate a certain style or price to them. Their gift was dandelion “wishes” in a glass orb necklace and I included a card stating “thank you for making my wishes come true today”.
Some personal highlights are: a poem my sister wrote for us that she read during our ceremony, the handmade “program” fans one of my MOHs made, place cards that were shells myself and my husband collected all summer long that I spray painted gold, all of the apothecary jar centerpieces made by myself, my aunt and one of my MOH’s, our custom favors to name a few.
My husband is a chef, and created his own sea salt seasoning consisting of lemon and lime vest, thyme, lemon balm and chocolate mint- which were jarred as favors. I used my cousin’s new hand stamping jewelry company to gift my father, MOHs, groom’s parents and aunt. I used our wedding date or special saying on the pieces as a special memory for them to hold on to, and to thank them for their help with this day.

I love that the bridal portrait is no longer just for the brides. Grooms are joining in to create some gorgeous portraits outside the wedding day. This boho chic inspired shoot from Jessica Q Photography captured at Venue at the Grove is just too pretty for words. The bride’s flowy dress paired with the floral crown gives it such a whimsical and dreamy feel. And how perfect is it that the groom’s suspenders match the berries in her crown! Love it!
If you have the chance to get married somewhere meaningful to the two of you, you take it. That’s what makes this Virginia wedding from Sharon Elizabeth at the groom’s family farm is so charming. The bride refers to the wedding style as ‘light and airy’ and that is the perfect description for this handmade farm wedding.
Our wedding took place on my husband’s family farm in Luray, VA. The wide-open field surrounded by rustic fence lines, hay fields and mountains was exactly what we wanted for our wedding. That wasn’t our original plan, though. Ethan & I searched and searched for venues when we first got engaged but just couldn’t find one that stood out to us. After giving the search a rest, we finally realized that we had the perfect venue right under our fingertips! The site we chose just so happens to be the same place Ethan proposed and where we want to build a home one day, so it has very special meaning to us!
Our wedding day was simply AMAZING! There’s not one thing I would change! I had my Mom, best friend, and cousin by my side as I got ready. Ethan and I planned on exchanging gifts before the wedding but little did I know, he had gifts arriving at my door every hour! With every gift, he included a hand-written note that was personal and sentimental! With each note I read, I got more and more anxious to see him! From a bag of peanut m&m’s to a gold monogram necklace with my new initials, he put so much thought into each gift! While us girls finished getting ready, Ethan and his groomsmen went to the farm to have a little round of skeet shooting. Looking back, I’m so thankful for a great group of vendors that kept our day stress-free so that we could enjoy the day with friends and family!
There was a chance of rain that day that kept us on our toes. We tried to keep our mind off of it and pray for the best! It did rain BUT as soon my Dad & I walked down the aisle, the sun peeked through the clouds and the rain came to an end! It was perfect timing!! After the ceremony, the fog rolled off the Massanutten mountains and made a beautiful backdrop for our pictures! We ended our perfect day with a reception at a nearby farmhouse with our friends and family! The day could not have gone any better and best of all, I got to marry my best friend!!!
We decided to go with a vintage theme – I referred to it as “light and airy.” I found the planning process to be SO much fun! I wanted lots of antiques and lace and luckily, my entire family are antique collectors so I had no problem finding the decor! I borrowed antique sugar creamers and pitchers from my Mom, Aunts and grandmother and even purchased a few myself to begin my own collection once I was married. We used those as the centerpieces and filled them with flowers. One of my favorite parts of the tablescapes were the dinner plates. During the wedding planning, my Mom & I spent time together by going to thrift shops and antique stores and finding 150 vintage dinner & dessert plates. We had the option of renting them from a rental company but just found the time we spent together, searching for each individual plate, to be so much fun! I will always remember that!
