Today I’m sharing this bright and colorful garden wedding captured by Kemper Mills Fant with sweet personal details. I absolutely love the banner they hung at the ceremony that had been in the groom’s family for generations. Such a sweet idea to continue a tradition (or start a new one of your own!)
We were inspired by Sundara (grew up spending a lot of time on the property) and the Appalachian Mountains. We also tried to incorporate a lot of Dutch and Danish traditions into our wedding. Dirk is Dutch and we live now in Denmark.
We hung a banner that has been used by generations in his family to hang from a tree during a wedding. Him and the groomsmen wore the Dutch national color “oranje” for their socks and suspenders. We had a special Danish tradition where the men held Dirk up and cut off the toes of his socks to ensure that he would not run off to any other women. We also had some great Dutch food.
My favorite detail was the salamanders! I grew up catching them across the road with my bridesmaids Emily and Sally. We had them swimming around in the centerpieces. We also made the moonshine mini jars for guests. Lucky for us my mom worked on those herself. My mom, Patty Trostle (venue owner), and Amy McArthur (coordinator) put together so many special details for us including catching the salamanders for the bar arrangements!
We loved having so many of our family and friends in one place. It was amazing to see people who traveled from all over the world to see us. We had friends come from Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Curacao, all over the US and Europe for the big day.

It doesn’t get much prettier than a gorgeous bride in a stunning gown. I am in love with these garden bridal portraits captured by Kristen Edwards. I love the bride’s loose, wavy updo and of course the fab glitter Kate Spades. But that gown! Layers and layers of tulle with an intricately beaded illusion back has me in wedding dress heaven.
If lush florals and sequins call your name, today’s shoot from Elyse Hall is for you. The combination of red and purple is so vibrant and modern. Such a great pop for you color lovers. All the florals are gorgeous (that bouquet has me hooked). And the adorable little boy and dog win for cutest ring bearers!
