Blush Asheville Wedding

Today I’m sharing this pink Asheville from melissa maureen photography. I love the sweet heirloom details that the bride included, especially the brooch on her bouquet that her mother used to wear to honor her heritage.

We both really love Asheville and we wanted our guests to get to experience the natural beauty of the area. We ended up choosing the NC Arboretum because we felt that it would showcase the innate charm of the North Carolina mountains. For the reception, Pack’s Tavern had the combination of space, great food, and a relaxed ambiance that we were looking for. We had a really tough time deciding on our color choices, but eventually we settled on pink and black with touches of silver because we felt it would look great in both of our chosen venues.

My mother passed away when I was 17, at a time when I was just beginning to learn how to be a woman. On my wedding day, my father gave me a beautiful silver box engraved with he and my mother’s wedding date as well as mine and inside the box was my mother’s wedding ring. After wiping away the tears, I slipped it on to the necklace I was wearing to keep have a piece of my mother close to my heart. My mother always wore a beautiful blue Native American brooch to honor our heritage. I attached that brooch to my bouquet to honor her, my grandmothers, and my Native American heritage. It also served as my something blue.

We both really enjoyed the ceremony. It had rained all morning but the sky cleared up in the afternoon in time for our 5 o’clock ceremony so we were really blessed with beautiful weather. My husband loves to quote lines from movies, especially Lord of the Rings. I noticed he was very serious and probably a little nervous during the ceremony so I took a quote from LotR and twisted it for him. While placing the ring on his finger I said “One ring to bring them and in marriage bind them”. He laughed and finally seemed to relax. He told me later that was when he knew he was marrying the right girl. However, the cherry on top for the entire ceremony was the butterfly that flew slow circles around us for part of the ceremony. Lots of people noticed it and commented at how magical it made the ceremony.

I would say that the most important thing to the two of us during the planning process was to keep our sanity :). We are both slow decision makers, and anyone who has planned a wedding knows that the process involves making a ton of decisions. We tried to base our decisions on two questions “Will our guests enjoy this?” and “Does this represent us?” We really wanted our guests to have a great time.

I wouldn’t say we really chose a style during the planning process. During planning we made choices based on what we liked without thinking too much on what the overall style was going to be. Looking back if I had to put a name to the style that we ended up with I would say “Romantic Garden Wedding”.
