Is there anything cooler than having a penguin as a guest at your wedding? I’m so in love with today’s fun aviary wedding from Carolyn Scott Photography! Not only is the venue amazing (what fun for your guests!) but this couple chose a Beatles theme as well. The DIY record centerpieces are perfect and a great idea for a music loving couple.
The idea to have our wedding at the National Aviary spawned after Bridgett photographed another couple’s wedding at that location and fell in love with the venue. The outdoor rose garden ceremony and tented reception patio coupled with the beautiful birds on display created a welcoming, romantic environment that perfectly suited our vision.
We wrote a custom ceremony complete with personalized vows and even had our very good friend Christian officiate. We chose The Beatles as our inspiration: select songs highlighted various events, reception tables were decorated with custom Beatles’ song centerpieces made out of old 45′s, and our first dance was to “Something”, one of the group’s most famous love songs.
Because of Bridgett’s experience with photography and Michael’s experience with music, these elements were naturally most imperative during our planning. Choosing Carolyn Scott Photography was a no-brainer. Carolyn and Geoff’s work is incredible and continues to inspire Bridgett. We were also passionate about hiring DJ Sean Nice, who truly kept the dance floor rockin’ the entire night with a beat-matched mix of classic and modern tunes.
Our favorite parts of the day were the photo session, toasts, our first dance, and letting loose on the dance floor at the end of the night!
