An Intimate Vintage White Wedding
March 7, 2013Garden weddings are always romantic and today’s is no exception. It has just the right amount of intimacy and darling vintage detailing. And seriously, how stunning is the ceremony set up?
The beautiful bride Serena shares:
Many women have their entire weddings planned out in their minds by the time they get engaged. I only had dreamed about the engagement ring! So planning our wedding was uncharted territory for both Trent and I. We knew we wanted a small intimate wedding, and that we did not want a “ballroom style” reception. We have beautiful weather in Atlanta as summer transitions into autumn, so a garden ceremony was a must! We both appreciate the vintage/antique style, and so the “vintage garden wedding” theme was born! The most important things that Trent and I agreed on for our special day was that the food had to be good, the music had to get guests dancing, and that we were surrounded by people we knew and loved. (We’ve been to so many weddings where the guest list is a long scroll, and the bride and groom only know half of their own guests.)
We were not working with a large budget, so I knew we had to be smart about decor. I found a florist who understood what I meant by “vintage rose” and was also able to get us chandeliers for the ceremony. My mother is very creative, so I also used her talents. A few things she created was she sewed flower-pearl coursages, and made an antique fabric covered basket to hold the guests’ favors. (For the favors, she put different spices in mini jars which were labeled with the meaning of each type of spice. For example, Rosemary – fidelity and Sage – domestic virtue) She’s amazing!
Our wedding was exactly what we wanted and hoped for. We had beautiful weather, beautiful decor, and we were surrounded by our family and closest friends. Trent and I both talked about the ceremony afterward. It’s truly a special moment as you walk down the aisle and lock eyes with your groom. It’s as if it’s just the two of you there. Trent said that when he saw me, his “heart skipped a beat.” If you knew Trent, you’d know those words were genuine. We had tons of fun at the reception! Although, we both agreed that the evening flew by way too quickly! Fortunately for us, we have these beautiful photographs that capture our special day from pre-wedding nerves to post ceremony celebration.
