A Vintage Burgundy Wedding
January 15, 2013You all are going to absolutely fall in love with today’s beautiful burgundy wedding! With vibrant florals, stunning photography, and adorable details, this Chicago wedding is really something special. I love all the sweet details the bride made for her maids (hello gorgeous robe and adorable hangers!) And I really don’t think the location can get any prettier! I am also drooling over the gorgeous rings! What part are you loving?
The lovely bride Kelly shares:
Our wedding was a celebration of a relationship 7 years in the making. From the beginning of the planning process, our goal was pretty simple: for the entire day to feel unique, cozy and fun. We joked and called it “our garage sale wedding” – because our eclectic taste led to almost nothing matching. From bridesmaid dresses to ceremony and reception décor, the mishmash of styles created a one-of-a-kind day.
We fell in love with Cuneo Mansion & Gardens the minute we visited during the venue hunt. Just outside of Chicago, you feel like you’ve escaped to an Italian villa. And hello, it was featured in My Best Friend’s Wedding—a 90s kid’s dream come true! The mansion was the perfect backdrop for our sunset outdoor ceremony and despite some ominous (oh, so ominous) forecasts, the weather was perfect. Family members officiated the ceremony and sang – making the gorgeous setting feel even more personal to us.
The reception was held in a mix of indoor and outdoor space- allowing for a rockin’ dance floor and photo booth in the ballroom – and an equally popular scotch & cigar bar on the mansion terrace. The speeches were some of the best we’ve ever heard and the surprise recorded greeting from the BoDeans (mine and my dad’s favorite band) before our daddy/daughter dance to “Good Things” was a moment we’ll never forget. We felt so surrounded with love – and Joan from Five Grain Events made the entire day seamless.
We wanted our guests to truly relax and enjoy a fall evening- and leave feeling like the little extras reflected “us” as a couple. Mission accomplished! We were so honored to work with Kristin La Voie Photography to capture every last detail.
