Vintage Pink and Black Garden Wedding

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow and today I’ve got a gorgeous pink and black wedding with a sweet secret garden theme. Bethany is stunning in her lace tiered gown and I am in love with all the paper goods! The details are just too adorable!

The gorgeous bride Bethany shares all the details with us:

Peter and I had been dating since our junior year of high school so our wedding was a long time coming!  When I started planning, I was inspired by the line referring to the month of June in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s The Poet’s Calendar: “Mine is the Month of Roses; yes, and Mine the Month of Marriages!” I envisioned a romantic, “Secret Garden” inspired wedding, with lots of flowers and vintage details. My color scheme was black and white with accents of pale pink.

The dress was a very important detail to me.  The beautiful tulle and lace Tara Keely fit and flare gown that I chose fit into my vision perfectly (plus it happened to be the first one I tried on!). The flowers were very important as well. I wanted light pink peonies in the bouquets along with lots of roses. For the centerpieces at the reception, we chose mounds of light pink hydrangeas in black square vases for a soft, romantic look.

The venue was very important to us and we visited a lot of places before we decided on the Tuscarora Inn, a historic inn in Lockport, New York. We knew as soon as we saw it that it was the right one. We loved the charming, vintage feel of the Inn, and it was the perfect size for our wedding. We chose our ceremony site close by in the gardens of a Victorian mansion which is now converted into an art gallery. The garden was enclosed by trees and shrubbery and had a very “Secret Garden” feel to it.

It’s hard to choose a favorite part of the day, since it was such a beautiful day, but my most favorite moment was walking down the aisle with Peter after we had just been married with the string quartet playing “All You Need is Love” in the background.  It was so beautiful in the garden with the sun shining down on us, knowing that we were officially starting our lives together.

One of the best decisions  we made was to rent a vintage Mercedes to drive us around after the ceremony for pictures.  We had a great time driving around in it and the pictures with the car turned out beautifully. I used Etsy vendors for a lot of the details, including the invitations and programs, as well as the signs and labels for the candy bar, which was also black, white and pink themed. I searched all over the city for the candy and old fashioned jars for the bar. It was a huge hit at the reception!
