A Purple Vancouver Wedding
April 10, 2012Today I’ve got a beautiful Vancouver wedding full of purple hydrangeas and sweet details. I am in love with the gorgeous calligraphy details, especially the His and Her Beloved chair covers! So romantic!
The lovely bride Olivia shares about the day:
Howard and I had a Canadian west coast destination wedding in stunning Vancouver, British Columbia on September 3, 2011. The outdoor ceremony was held facing the ocean on the grounds of Brock House – a historic building along Kitsilano beach. Following the ceremony we had an intimate lunch reception on site under an open tent. God blessed us with beautiful sunshine that Saturday despite a few overcast days and sprinkles during the week. After nine months of careful long-distance planning by a dear friend and myself, the wedding day came together perfectly in every way. The memories were beautifully captured by our photographer, Jamie Delaine, and forever imprinted in our hearts. I am excited to share the joy and love that overflowed that day, and hope that you’ll be inspired and blessed in some way by the details in these photos!
My favorite part of the day was being able to celebrate our sacred union with our family and closest friends who flew in from different parts of the world to be with us. We even transported our pastor from Hong Kong to bless us on this special day!
There are many meaningful details that we decided to incorporate into our wedding day. Howard and I share a strong faith in Christ, so we wanted to use words from the bible for our table names. Upon checking in, each guest was given a bookmark that corresponded to his or her table assignment. These bookmarks were lovingly designed and created by my friend’s sister using her own hand calligraphy. One side of the bookmark is a word from the bible and the other side is a related scripture verse that spoke to our hearts. In addition, our wedding favors were little jars of local blueberry honey with our own DIY labels that read “faith, hope, love” – inspired by God’s word in 1 Corinthians 13:13.
